Greetings! My name is Beth Owens.
I am a Kindergarten Teacher and an Assistant Administrator by day, and an aspiring author, speaker, and small group
leader by night. I am married to my Knight in Shining Armor and am the mother and step
mother of five children all ranging in size from 25 to 10. Four handsome Prince’s and one
Princess. Yes, God has blessed us richly.
Not only am I honored that God allowed me to take part in the Womens’ Power Surge
Ministry, I am more than tickled that God asked me and trusted me to lead a teen and tween girls
ministry! - Girls’ Power Surge. In a world filled with snakes, snails, and puppy dog tails,
God has allowed me to reach into the lives of young ladies and all things pink and sparkly!
It is my desire to restore our youth’s beliefs in who they are because of who God says they are. It is my
desire to help them realize that we are all going in a direction and every step we take, every choice we
make, determines where we will go. Decisions we make now, even as young ladies, WILL affect the future me!
I am delighted to share my story, my journey, with these young ladies in creative, fresh, and
interesting ways that are relevant to today’s youth. From my own experiences I can relate to
today’s young woman and guide her in a direction that leads straight to the young women
that God has planned for them to be.
I enjoy many things. Some I am actually good at, others, not so much. I enjoy music and
listen to many varieties; I dabble at piano and guitar; I write poetry and am working on the final
draft of my first soon to be published novel; I am a speaker for womens and youth events;
an advocate for the Suti Sana ministry, which is based out of Bolivia and rescues women from
prostitution and provides alternate employment for these women; I hunt, fish, ride motorcycles,
and I love reading books, mostly written by Christian women, in hopes of becoming more fully the
woman God has intended for me to be.
Join me on this journey to fulfill the purposes that God has for each one of us.
Jeremiah 29:11 I know what I'm doing. I have it all planned out--plans to take care of you, not abandon you, plans to give you the future you hope for...MSG
Hello! My name is Kim Crouse. I have been blessed with a wonderful husband and
we have 3 beautiful children. He is extra wonderful because he lives (and thrives) in a house full of ladies! We enjoy our little town and often take advantage of the lakes and parks. I like to try new hobbies and I aspire to be many things like a quilter, avid
reader, and an incredibly generous million or maybe billionaire...I’m still trying to decide
on that one.
My husband says I can make friends anywhere I go and it might be true, because I
have always felt a call on my life to help people and am naturally drawn to them. I have been actively involved in our local Pregnancy Resource Center, Bright Alternatives,
Inc., since 2008. Bright Alternatives has been an avenue for me to use my passion and
experience to make a positive impact on our community and in the lives of those we
serve. I love my job and have great support from my family.
I was so humbled and honored to be asked to join the Girls’ Power Surge team. I have a passion to see women and young ladies living victoriously through the truth of God’s word, and being a part of GPS allows me share this passion. Someone once said, “a
man with an experience is never at the mercy of a man with an argument.” I believe mypassion is fueled by my own experiences with life and God’s redemptive love.
Being the child of a “broken” and later “blended” home, I craved fatherly love and maleapproval. I listened to the world and my own negative talk, both of which are lies of the enemy, and I lost my way. The road I chose to travel left me empty and carrying a lot
of baggage. After two unplanned pregnancies I found myself at the feet of my Savior
and learning about the Fatherly love I had been denying. The truth of God’s
immeasurable love for me suddenly became more real than any lie I had previously
believed, and I have to share it with others! It is my heart’s desire to equip young ladiesand young women with the knowledge of their worth through His truth. It’s time we
stopped letting the lies of the world steer our lives. He has reclaimed me, restored me, and is redeeming my life. I am happy to give God the driver’s seat and I look forward
to touching lives along my journey with Girls’ Power Surge.
When I think about myself, I picture a duck. Ducks look so graceful as they glide across a lake, but underneath the water, their legs are moving quickly just to stay afloat. In my walk with Christ, I
envision His love, grace, and mercy as the feet of the duck just keeping me above float. There have been times when I have lost my way, but I’ve learned to “dive underneath” and seek His love, grace, and mercy to “stay afloat “once again.
I’m nothing special, except that I know that I am created in HIS image. I yearn to share Christ’s
story of salvation, love, grace, mercy, and ultimate restoration for all of us. My heart has always
been for youth, and I have served in youth ministry for several years in various roles.
Once you meet me, then hear me speak, you will probably wonder, where is she from? Well, I grewup in Lynchburg, Virginia, far from Bradford. My family was unique, both my brother and sister were born with severe cognitive delays, and then came me. The doctors stated I was “normal” but
that is a relative term.
I was blessed to have two loving parents who taught me how to love Christ and love others as
Christ loves. I accepted Christ into my heart when I was six years old. At the age of twenty, I
committed myself to Christ and vowed to follow wherever He lead me. Let me just say, when you make a commitment to follow Christ wherever, it is quite a ride!
I’ve been married to Josh Haney for almost fifteen years, and we have two beautiful children; Bradyand Carly. My husband and I have served in ministry together for fifteen years.
I love to play any sport, except golf. I love to be with my family, having dance parties in the livingroom, saying prayers at night, and getting snuggles from them. I love to hang out with women andyouth to get to know their story. I enjoy movies, coffee, shopping, making crafts, and love to be
outdoors. I thrive on making connections with others and seeing how God moves in our hearts whenwe surrender to what He has in store for us.
We all need each other to figure out where He is leading us, and I’m humbled to be a part of the
GPS team. I look forward to getting to know more women and teen girls and see where God leads
